REC Limited Partners with UNISED to Empower Education in Siddharthnagar, Uttar Prades

 

New Delhi:  REC Limited, a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Power and a prominent Non-Banking Finance Company, has joined forces with the Unit of Science and Educational Development (UNISED) to bolster the education of approximately 75,500 children in Siddharthnagar district, Uttar Pradesh. The collaboration, facilitated through REC’s Corporate Social Responsibility arm, REC Foundation, involves a financial commitment of Rs. 9.91 crores towards the betterment of educational opportunities for underprivileged children.

The official Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between REC Foundation and UNISED was formalized during a ceremony in New Delhi. Mr. Bhupesh Chandolia, Head of CSR at REC Foundation, and Ms. Rashmi Kumari, Assistant Programme Director at UNISED, signed the agreement, reinforcing UNISED’s dedication to enhancing educational prospects for marginalized children.

UNISED, renowned for its nationwide presence and commitment to innovative learning systems, will leverage the collaboration to introduce solar energy-operated smart classrooms and establish joyful learning resource labs in government schools across Siddharthnagar district. This initiative seeks to provide students with access to contemporary educational tools and resources, fostering academic and creative excellence.

In a recent display of unwavering support for education, REC Foundation contributed Rs. 15 Crores to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund, benefitting 12,500 children of ex-servicemen. This commitment underscores REC’s broader mission to contribute meaningfully to societal development through its Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives.

The partnership between REC Limited and UNISED exemplifies a collective effort towards bridging educational disparities and creating a conducive learning environment for children in underserved communities. By investing in solar-powered smart classrooms and innovative learning resources, the initiative aims to empower the next generation with the tools they need to thrive academically and contribute to the nation’s progress.
