REC Limited Facilitates Workshop on Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme’s Web Portal

Gurugram: REC Limited, a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Power, organized a workshop at its corporate office in Gurugram to acquaint stakeholders with the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) module of the Integrated Web Portal for Power Sector Distribution Schemes. The workshop brought together representatives from state DISCOMs, Program Management Agencies (PMAs), REC-Third Party Quality Monitoring Agencies (TPQMAs), and other industry stakeholders, including Power Finance Corporation.

The Integrated Web Portal (https://rdss.powermin.gov.in/), launched by Union Power and New & Renewable Energy Minister Shri R. K. Singh, offers real-time updates and insights into the implementation of power sector distribution schemes, promoting transparency and efficiency. The workshop, held on February 22, 2024, aimed to highlight the significance of the platform and guide stakeholders on its optimal utilization for regular updates, monitoring, and expediting progress under the scheme. Over 200 officials attended the workshop in person, while another 300 joined through video conferencing.

Shri Rahul Dwivedi, Executive Director (Project Management Division), REC, emphasized the integrated web platform’s importance, urging DISCOMs to adopt its usage. He stated, “This platform has the ability to track progress at every stage of the process and will ensure greater visibility, transparency, and accountability in the power distribution sector. It is set to be a game-changer for the sector, helping us ensure efficient and effective scheme implementation across the country.”

The integrated web platform, developed under RDSS, monitors major schemes and reports for the Indian power distribution sector, aiming to digitize the RDSS scheme. The modules covered include RDSS, Consumer Service Rating of DISCOMs (CSRD), Energy Accounting, Additional GSDP Borrowing, Integrated Rating of DISCOMs, Key Regulatory Parameters, Annual Performance of State Utilities, and Integration with PRAAPTI Portal.

The workshop facilitated a comprehensive understanding of the platform, followed by an open discussion addressing queries from stakeholders. Participants expressed optimism about the platform’s potential to enhance the power distribution sector’s progress and innovation.

The integrated digital platform, designed and developed by the Ministry of Power, REC, and Power Finance Corporation, marks a significant step toward digitizing and streamlining the monitoring of power sector distribution schemes.
