Punjab and Telangana Delegation Impressed by Odisha’s Transport Services

Bhubaneswar: A delegation from the transport departments of Punjab and Telangana spent two days in Odisha to explore and learn from the state’s advanced transport services. The visit aimed at understanding and adopting Odisha’s successful strategies in their own states.

The delegates began their visit at the Heavy Vehicle Driver Training Centre in Chhatia, Jajpur district. Established through a public-private partnership, this centre provides free training to enhance the skills of heavy vehicle drivers. The delegation was notably impressed by the modern facilities, advanced training equipment, and the comprehensive approach to drivers’ skill development and personality enhancement. They interacted with trainers and students to gain insights into the centre’s effective training setup, which is regarded as exemplary nationwide.

Following this, the delegation visited the Automated Vehicle Driving Testing Centre in Chandikhole. Here, they observed the use of professional skills to ensure transparency and minimize human intervention in the issuance of driving licenses.

The visit also included a stop at the Command and Control Centre in Bhubaneswar. The delegation was briefed on the implementation of the Intelligent Enforcement Management System (IEMS) and Vehicle Location Tracking Device (VLTD) in Odisha. Additional Transport Commissioner Deepti Ranjan Patra coordinated this segment of the program.
