Prithvi Shaw Set for Comeback as Mumbai Cricket Association Includes Him in Ranji Squad

Mumbai: Cricket fans can rejoice as Prithvi Shaw is poised to make his comeback, with the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) including him in their Ranji squad. The decision follows the clearance given by the National Cricket Academy (NCA), deeming Shaw fit for competitive cricket. Shaw will join the squad led by Ajinkya Rahane, and they are scheduled to face Bengal at the Eden Gardens, beginning on February 2.

The 24-year-old cricketer has been on the sidelines since August of the previous year due to a knee ligament injury. The delay in his return to action was reported on January 20, as the NCA wanted to subject him to a higher volume of workload to assess his preparedness for a comeback.

The NCA provided an update to the MCA, stating, “Prithvi Shaw is progressing well in his batting and fielding drills. He will undergo higher volumes of acceleration, change of direction, and agility drills over the next 3 weeks to develop the required robustness for his injured knee ligament before making a return to sports.”

With the recent clearance from the NCA, Prithvi Shaw has been granted the green light to participate in the Ranji Trophy. Mumbai’s traveling squad will now feature a total of 17 members.

Mumbai currently leads the Elite Group B Ranji points table, boasting 20 points from four games with three wins and one loss.
