Prime Minister of Bhutan Embarks on Official Visit to India

New Delhi:   The Prime Minister of Bhutan, Dasho Tshering Tobgay, undertakes his maiden official visit to India from March 14 to March 18. This visit comes at the gracious invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and marks an important milestone in the bilateral relations between the two neighboring nations.

Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay assumed office in January 2024, and this tour to India holds particular significance as it marks his first overseas visit since assuming the position of leadership in the Himalayan kingdom.

Accompanying Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay are a delegation comprising the Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Minister for Industry, Commerce and Employment, along with other senior officials from the Royal Government of Bhutan.

During his stay in India, Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay is scheduled to meet with Indian President Smt. Droupadi Murmu and engage in bilateral discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Additionally, he will be receiving calls from India’s External Affairs Minister and other dignitaries.

Highlighting the robust friendship and cooperation shared between India and Bhutan, both countries are looking forward to leveraging this visit to further strengthen their ties. Their relationship, built on a foundation of trust, goodwill, and mutual understanding, has consistently grown stronger over the years.

One notable aspect of Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay’s visit is his planned visit to Mumbai, where he is expected to engage with various stakeholders, further fostering economic and cultural ties between Bhutan and the vibrant city of Mumbai.
