Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Inaugurate Groundbreaking First Mile Connectivity Projects for Sustainable Coal Supply

New Delhi: To ensure more environmentally-friendly approach to coal supply, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to virtually inaugurate two First Mile Connectivity Projects (FMC) initiated by Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited (CIL) under the Ministry of Coal, on February 29th. These pioneering projects, valued at Rs 1393.69 Crore, signify a significant stride towards efficient and eco-friendly mechanized coal evacuation, contributing to the reduction of carbon emissions.

The two flagship projects, Jayant OCP CHP-SILO and Dudhichua OCP CHP-SILO, are poised to redefine the coal evacuation landscape. The Jayant OCP CHP-SILO, with a robust capacity of 15 Million Tonnes Per Annum (MTPA), has been developed at an investment of Rs. 723.50 Crore. Similarly, the Dudhichua OCP CHP-SILO, boasting a capacity of 10 Million Tonnes Per Annum (MTPA), has been constructed with an investment of Rs. 670.19 Crore.

Post-inauguration, these projects are anticipated to revolutionize coal evacuation processes by introducing a heightened level of efficiency and sustainability. The streamlined operations will lead to reduced transportation times and costs, enhancing overall productivity and profitability in the coal supply chain. Furthermore, by optimizing logistics and minimizing carbon emissions, these projects align with the government’s commitment to a greener and more environmentally conscious approach to coal dispatch and distribution.

The inauguration of these projects underscores the Ministry of Coal’s steadfast dedication to infrastructure development and sustainable initiatives. By prioritizing a greener future, these initiatives aim to contribute significantly to India’s energy security while concurrently reducing the ecological footprint associated with coal-related activities.

As the nation continues its journey towards a sustainable energy future, these First Mile Connectivity Projects are pivotal milestones, demonstrating a commitment to innovation, efficiency, and environmental responsibility in the coal sector.
