Prime Minister Narendra Modi Lays Foundation Stone for AIIMS Rewari, Highlights Healthcare Transformation

Rewari:  Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi marked a significant milestone in healthcare infrastructure by laying the foundation stone for the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Rewari, in the presence of Shri Bandaru Dattatreya, Governor of Haryana. The ceremony, held today, also witnessed the laying of foundations for various other development projects in Haryana.

Accompanied by Shri Manohar Lal, Chief Minister of Haryana; Shri Rao Inderjit Singh, Minister of State (IC), Planning, Statistic and Programme Implementation, Ministry of Corporate Affairs; and Shri Dushyant Chautala, Deputy Chief Minister of Haryana, Prime Minister Modi expressed his joy at the rapid transformation of the health sector, aligning with the aspirations of the people. He emphasized the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’ and the pivotal role of the health sector in achieving this vision by 2047.

Prime Minister Modi stated, “Only a Viksit Haryana can lead to a Viksit Bharat,” underscoring the integral connection between infrastructure development and healthcare facilities for the overall development of the country.

During the ceremony, Prime Minister Modi highlighted the government’s commitment to prioritize public health infrastructure and strengthen citizen-centric health services through the holistic development of the health sector. AIIMS Rewari is expected to not only address the healthcare needs of Haryana but also generate employment opportunities for the youth and provide avenues for medical education.

Over the past decade, the government has approved 15 new AIIMS and more than 300 new medical colleges, including one medical college in each district of Haryana. Prime Minister Modi termed the foundation-laying ceremony for AIIMS Rewari as a crucial step in the government’s commitment to enhancing public health infrastructure.

Union Health Minister, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, termed the event as a historic day for Haryana’s healthcare ecosystem, asserting that AIIMS Rewari would greatly benefit the people of Haryana and neighboring states, ensuring access to high-quality and affordable healthcare.

Shri Manohar Lal expressed gratitude to the Union Government for fulfilling the long-cherished wish of the people of Rewari for an AIIMS in the region. AIIMS Rewari is anticipated to provide valuable medical services not only to South Haryana but also to the nearby region of North Rajasthan.

Shri Rao Inderjit Singh highlighted the government’s focus on enhancing infrastructure development across the country, including health infrastructure. The expansion of the AIIMS network to 23 institutions across India is a testament to this commitment.

AIIMS Rewari, developed at a cost of Rs 1650 crore on 203 acres of land in Rewari district, will include a 750-bed hospital complex, a 100-seat medical college, a 60-seat nursing college, and various other facilities. The institute will provide high-quality patient care services in 17 super specialty and 18 specialty departments, contributing to better healthcare benefits for the underprivileged population in remote areas of the state.

The establishment of AIIMS Rewari is a significant step towards providing comprehensive, quality, and specialized healthcare services to the people of Haryana, marking a crucial milestone in the nation’s healthcare development.

Senior officials from the Union Health Ministry, Government of Haryana, and representatives from implementing agencies were also present during the foundation-laying ceremony of AIIMS Rewari.
