Prime Minister Narendra Modi Embarks on State Visit to Bhutan Strengthening Bilateral Ties

Paro:  To celebrate the longstanding and robust diplomatic exchanges between India and Bhutan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi commenced his official State Visit to Bhutan today. The visit, scheduled from March 22 to March 23, underscores the significance of fostering close ties with neighboring nations, in line with India’s Neighbourhood First Policy.

Upon his arrival at Paro airport, Prime Minister Modi was greeted with warmth and cordiality by Tshering Tobgay, the Prime Minister of Bhutan. A ceremonial welcome marked the commencement of the visit, symbolizing the deep-rooted friendship and cooperation shared between the two nations.

During the course of his visit, Prime Minister Modi is slated to engage in a series of high-level meetings aimed at enhancing bilateral relations. He is scheduled to have an audience with His Majesty Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, the reigning King of Bhutan, as well as with His Majesty Jigme Singye Wangchuck, the esteemed Fourth King of Bhutan. Additionally, discussions with Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay are set to take place, focusing on various areas of mutual interest and cooperation.

A notable highlight of Prime Minister Modi’s itinerary includes the inauguration of the Gyaltsuen Jetsun Pema Mother and Child Hospital in Thimphu.
