Prime Minister Narendra Modi Celebrates Distinguished Padma Shri Awardees in Sambalpur Visit

Sambalpur:  During his visit to Sambalpur, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took the opportunity to meet and celebrate several eminent personalities who have been honored with the Padma Shri awards in recent years. Through a series of posts on social media, he praised their significant contributions to the nation at the grassroots level.

In a tweet, Prime Minister Modi expressed his admiration for Shri Bhagabat Pradhan, highlighting his dedication to preserving and popularizing Sabda Nrutya over five decades. He commended individuals like Pradhan for making significant cultural contributions, enriching the nation, and ensuring that the youth stay connected with their roots. Pradhan was conferred the Padma Shri this year.

Dr. Krishna Patel, a celebrated Sambalpuri folk singer, also received praise from the Prime Minister for her mesmerizing voice that has resonated for over four decades. He acknowledged her immense contribution to India’s cultural heritage, and she was honored with the Padma Shri in 2023.

Shri Mitrabhanu Gountia, recognized for his versatility as a dramatist, poet, lyricist, and novelist, received accolades from Prime Minister Modi for leaving an indelible mark on the cultural tapestry of the nation. He was honored with the Padma Shri in 2020.

Shri Binod Kumar Pasayat of Sambalpur, distinguished lyricist, playwright, and poet, received recognition for his invaluable contribution to the Sambalpuri language. With seven decades of literary work, he was conferred the Padma Shri this year.

Shri Jitendra Haripal, honored with the Padma Shri in 2017 for his exemplary contribution to music, particularly his rendition of Rangabati, was appreciated by the Prime Minister during the visit.

The Prime Minister also met Shri Haladhar Nag, conferred the Padma Shri in 2016, recognizing his unwavering perseverance and dedication to preserving and promoting Sambalpuri and Odia literature. Prime Minister Modi lauded Nag’s passion for literature, which ignites a sense of pride in linguistic traditions.

The interactions showcased the Prime Minister’s recognition and appreciation for individuals whose contributions have made a lasting impact on the cultural and artistic landscape of the nation.
