Prime Minister Modi Unveils Ambitious Railway Infrastructure Projects Worth Over Rs. 41,000 Crores

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to initiate a transformative chapter in India’s railway infrastructure with the foundation laying, inauguration, and dedication of approximately 2000 projects totaling more than Rs. 41,000 crores. The historic event is scheduled for February 26th at 12:30 PM and will be conducted through video conferencing.

Prime Minister Modi, who has consistently stressed the need for world-class facilities at railway stations, will mark a significant milestone by laying the foundation stone for the redevelopment of 553 railway stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. Spanning 27 states and union territories, this ambitious initiative carries a budget of over Rs. 19,000 crores. The rejuvenated stations, conceptualized as ‘City Centres,’ aim to seamlessly integrate both sides of cities, offering modern amenities such as roof plazas, beautiful landscaping, inter-modal connectivity, improved facades, kids play areas, kiosks, and food courts. These redeveloped stations will prioritize environmental sustainability and accessibility for persons with disabilities, drawing inspiration from local culture, heritage, and architecture.

Among the key highlights of the event is the inauguration of the Gomti Nagar station in Uttar Pradesh. This redevelopment project, executed at a cost of around Rs. 385 crores, focuses on accommodating anticipated increases in passenger footfall. The station boasts segregated arrival and departure facilities, centralized air-conditioning, modern passenger conveniences like Air Concourse, congestion-free circulation areas, food courts, and ample parking in upper and lower basements.

Additionally, Prime Minister Modi will lay the foundation stone, inaugurate, and dedicate 1500 Road Over Bridges and Underpasses across 24 states and union territories. These critical projects, valued at approximately Rs. 21,520 crores, are designed to alleviate congestion, enhance safety and connectivity, and improve the capacity and efficiency of rail travel.

This monumental initiative underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing transportation infrastructure, providing world-class amenities, and catalyzing sustainable development across the nation. The visionary projects align with Prime Minister Modi’s vision of a modern and efficient railway network that contributes to India’s progress on the global stage.
