President of India Calls for Unified Efforts to Combat Tuberculosis on World Tuberculosis Day

New Delhi:  Ahead of World Tuberculosis Day, President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, emphasized the critical importance of raising awareness and fostering collective action to tackle the global scourge of Tuberculosis (TB).

World Tuberculosis Day, observed annually on March 24th, serves as a poignant reminder of the persistent threat posed by TB and the need for concerted efforts to combat the disease. President Murmu underscored the significance of this day in amplifying public consciousness about TB and rallying support for preventive measures.

“I am happy to note that ‘World Tuberculosis Day’ is being celebrated on 24th March with the aim of increasing public awareness about Tuberculosis (TB),” remarked President Murmu. She stressed the day’s objective of illuminating the global impact of TB and highlighting the challenges in its containment.

Acknowledging the gravity of the situation, President Murmu urged for proactive measures to enhance early detection, treatment, and prevention of TB. Emphasizing the collective responsibility, she called upon all citizens to unite in the mission to eradicate TB from India, urging concerted efforts toward this noble goal.

“This day aims to make the masses aware of the global impact of TB, raise awareness about the challenges in controlling the disease, and support efforts to prevent it. This day also reminds us of the importance of early detection, treatment, and prevention of TB,” President Murmu affirmed.

TB remains a significant public health concern worldwide, with India bearing a substantial burden of the disease. The President’s call for action comes at a crucial juncture, as the nation strives to intensify its efforts to eliminate TB and improve the health outcomes of its citizens.
