President Murmu Graces First Convocation of AIIMS Mangalagiri, Highlights Role of Doctors in Humanity and Holistic Healthcare

Mangalagiri (Andhra Pradesh): The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, graced the first convocation ceremony of AIIMS, Mangalagiri, Andhra Pradesh, on December 17, 2024. Addressing the graduating MBBS batch, the President lauded their pivotal role in establishing the identity of the institute and called them the “first brand ambassadors” of AIIMS Mangalagiri in the medical fraternity, society, and across the globe.

Highlighting the importance of the medical profession, the President stated, “By choosing the path of medicine, you have chosen the path of serving humanity.” She urged the graduating doctors to focus on three key principles to achieve success and respect in their careers: service orientation, learning orientation, and research orientation. She also advised them to prioritize fame over fortune, as fame earned through service brings lasting impact and respect.

The President praised Indian doctors for achieving global recognition through talent and hard work. She emphasized India’s growing role as a hub for affordable medical tourism, attracting patients from across the world. She noted that this development underscores the crucial role doctors play in advancing the country’s healthcare system on the global stage.

In line with India’s traditional values, President Murmu underlined the importance of holistic health and longevity. She praised AIIMS Mangalagiri’s motto, ‘Sakal Swasthya Sarvada’ (Health for All), as a reflection of the institute’s commitment to holistic and inclusive healthcare. She urged medical professionals to adopt this principle in their practice, ensuring comprehensive well-being for all.

Addressing the evolving challenges in medical sciences, the President called for innovative solutions and emphasized the need for continuous research. She applauded AIIMS Mangalagiri’s Cytogenetics Laboratory, describing it as a significant step toward advanced research and treatment. She expressed confidence that the laboratory would contribute to groundbreaking solutions in medical science.

The convocation ceremony marked a significant milestone for AIIMS Mangalagiri, as it celebrated the achievements of its inaugural graduating batch. The event underscored the institution’s role in fostering a new generation of medical professionals committed to service, learning, and innovation.
