President Droupadi Murmu Marks Two Years in Office with Educational and Cultural Initiatives

New Delhi: The President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, completed her second year in office today. To commemorate this milestone, President Murmu embraced her former role as an educator, engaging with Class 9 students from Dr. Rajendra Prasad Kendriya Vidyalaya in the President’s Estate. During a lively and interactive session, she imparted lessons on nature conservation and climate change, sharing personal stories from her youth about caring for plants and animals. The students responded with enthusiasm, offering their own suggestions for environmental preservation.

In addition to her educational engagement, President Murmu participated in several key initiatives within the President’s Estate:

  1. Inauguration of the Redeveloped Shiva Temple: The President inaugurated the newly redeveloped Shiva Temple, adding to the cultural and spiritual landscape of the Estate.
  2. Visit to Pranab Mukherjee Public Library: She visited the Pranab Mukherjee Public Library, where she interacted with students and explored digitized versions of old and rare books from the Rashtrapati Bhavan Library.
  3. Inauguration of a Skill India Centre: In the presence of the Minister of State (IC) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Shri Jayant Chaudhary, President Murmu inaugurated a new Skill India Centre, aimed at fostering skill development and entrepreneurship.
  4. Inauguration of a Cricket Pavilion: At the sports ground of Dr. Rajendra Prasad Kendriya Vidyalaya, she inaugurated a cricket pavilion, highlighting her support for promoting sports among the youth.
  5. Inauguration of Synthetic and Grass Tennis Courts: The President also inaugurated new synthetic and grass tennis courts, enhancing the sports facilities within the Estate.
  6. Launch of Digital Initiatives: President Murmu launched several digital initiatives, including the e-Upahaar app, a digital compilation of the past year’s events in Rashtrapati Bhavan, and other digital services. She emphasized the importance of digitization in increasing convenience, speed, transparency, and accountability in governance.

In her remarks, President Murmu expressed her commitment to inclusive development, particularly for marginalized and backward classes. She noted the increased engagement of the public with Rashtrapati Bhavan over the past two years and praised ongoing efforts to promote a culture of reading and sports within the President’s Estate.

The event marked a significant moment in President Murmu’s tenure, highlighting her focus on education, culture, and digital advancement.
