President Droupadi Murmu interacts with Bangladesh Youth Delegation at Rashtrapati Bhavan

New Delhi: A vibrant youth delegation from Bangladesh had the honour of meeting the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, at Rashtrapati Bhavan today. Addressing the delegation, President Murmu expressed her joy in interacting with a group of talented and young minds from Bangladesh, highlighting the inclusive nature of the delegation with over 50 percent women and participants from diverse backgrounds.

President Murmu emphasized that the presence of the youth delegation is not just a visit but signifies the building of a bridge between the two nations. It serves as a testament to the enduring spirit of cooperation and friendship that characterizes the India-Bangladesh relationship.

Underlining the unique bond shared by India and Bangladesh founded on history, culture, and sacrifices, the President proudly recalled India’s role as a friend and partner in the Liberation War of Bangladesh. She stressed the need to preserve and nurture this spirit, which continues to inspire the unique bond between the two countries.

The President remarked that the relationship between India and Bangladesh goes beyond diplomatic ties; it is a relationship of the heart and soul. With deep cultural links and a common love for art, music, cricket, and food, both nations celebrate their unity in diversity. The national anthems, both penned by Tagore, stand as a source of pride, and the shared love for ‘Baul’ music and the works of Kazi Nazrul Islam further strengthen the cultural ties.

Expressing India’s commitment to its friendship with Bangladesh, President Murmu highlighted the nation’s highest priority to this relationship. She emphasized the potential of the large and energetic youth populations in both countries, urging them to harness their potential as leaders of tomorrow to shape a green, sustainable, and peaceful world.

Encouraging the youth delegation to use the opportunity to experience various facets of India’s diversity and development, President Murmu urged them to strengthen the bonds of peace, prosperity, and friendship between India and Bangladesh as they work towards building a prosperous future.

The Bangladesh Youth Delegation program, initiated in 2012 by the Ministry of External Affairs and Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, aims to foster goodwill, understanding, and exchange of ideas and values among the youth of both countries.
