Bhubaneswar: A state-level preparatory meeting was held at Lok Seva Bhavan today to finalize arrangements for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to Bhubaneswar on September 17, where he will officially launch the ‘Subhadra’ scheme, a key welfare initiative of the Odisha state government. Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja chaired the meeting, which was attended by senior officials including Development Commissioner Anu Garg, Home Department Secretary Satyabrat Sahu, Director General of Police Y.B. Khurania, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials, Khurdha District Collector, and other top-level authorities. Shubha Sharma, Principal Secretary of the Women and Child Development Department, briefed the gathering on the extensive preparations being made for the launch of the scheme.

The meeting focused on ensuring smooth coordination among various departments to manage the large crowd expected at the event. Chief Secretary Ahuja reviewed the arrangements, stressing the importance of meticulous planning and collaboration across all sectors.

Law and order will be overseen by the DGP and Inspector General of Police (IGP), while the District Collector will manage logistical and operational details. Authorities were instructed to ensure uninterrupted power supply, with additional generators on standby, and to secure necessary healthcare facilities, drinking water, sanitation, and cleanliness.

Further directives were given to prepare emergency services, set up barricading, and install LED screens at multiple locations to facilitate public viewing. Mobile and bio-toilets will be placed along roadsides to accommodate the anticipated large gathering.

The Information and Public Relations Department will provide a single feed system for media to live broadcast the event. In addition, a control room will be set up by the State Department of Home Affairs (Protocol) to offer updates and coordinate the Prime Minister’s visit.
