Prakhar Chaturvedi Shatters Records with 404 in U-19 Cooch Behar Trophy Final
Shimoga: In a historic display of cricketing prowess, Prakhar Chaturvedi etched his name into the record books by notching up the first 400 in the final of the Under-19 Cooch Behar Trophy, held against Mumbai in Shimoga on Sunday.
Chaturvedi’s extraordinary innings saw him surpass Yuvraj Singh’s 24-year-old record of 358, marking the previous highest individual score in the tournament final. His stellar performance positioned him at No. 2 on the list of highest individual scores in the tournament, just behind Vijay Zol’s remarkable 451 not out for Maharashtra against Assam in the 2011-12 season.
As the opener, Chaturvedi compiled an unbeaten score of 404, steering Karnataka to a dominant position and securing victory based on a first-innings lead. Karnataka posted a formidable 890 for 8 after 223 overs in response to Mumbai’s 380 all out on the second day of the match. Chaturvedi faced a staggering 638 balls, punctuating his innings with 46 fours and three sixes.
Chaturvedi’s remarkable achievement marks a sensational turnaround in his fortunes. Initially left out of the Under-19 squad for the season, he now stands on the brink of making his senior team debut for Karnataka in the Ranji Trophy. This remarkable feat comes in a season where he also missed the opportunity to represent India in the Under-19 World Cup.
