Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana Achieves Rs. 1000 Crore Milestone in Record Time

New Delhi: The Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) has reached a remarkable milestone by achieving sales worth Rs. 1000 crore in October 2024, two months ahead of last year’s achievement in December 2023. This landmark achievement underscores the increasing public trust in affordable and quality medicines provided by the initiative, reflecting the growing popularity of Jan Aushadhi Kendras across the country.

With over 14,000 Jan Aushadhi Kendras now operational, covering almost all districts in India, the initiative has played a pivotal role in making healthcare more accessible and reducing out-of-pocket expenses for millions of citizens. PMBJP has seen a rapid expansion, with the number of Kendras growing more than 170 times in the last decade—from just 80 in 2014 to more than 14,000 today. The initiative’s growth has been fueled by strong public support, demonstrated by a record Rs. 200 crore worth of medicine sales in a single month in September 2024.

In addition to the current milestone, the government has set an ambitious goal of establishing 25,000 Jan Aushadhi Kendras across the country over the next two years. The program offers a wide range of over 2,000 medicines and 300 surgical devices, covering essential therapeutic areas such as cardiovascular health, cancer treatment, diabetes management, anti-infectives, and gastrointestinal care.

On average, nearly 1 million people visit these affordable healthcare centers daily, highlighting their role in promoting health equity. The PMBJP’s steady growth and record-breaking sales demonstrate the initiative’s success in ensuring that quality healthcare is accessible to all, contributing significantly to the well-being of communities nationwide.
