Bhubaneswar: The 8th edition of Poshan Pakhya 2026 was formally inaugurated by Union Minister Annapurna Devi at Vigyan Bhawan, with Odisha showcasing its efforts towards building a well-nourished state.
Representing Odisha at the national launch, Mrinalini Darswal, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Women and Child Development Department, highlighted the state’s initiatives aimed at achieving a ‘Suposhit Odisha’.
The campaign will be observed from April 9 to April 23, focusing on early childhood development, particularly the crucial first six years of a child’s life. This year’s themes include improving nutrition for mothers and children, promoting early stimulation for children aged 0–3 years, encouraging play-based learning for those aged 3–6 years, reducing screen time among young children, and strengthening Anganwadi centres.
In Odisha, a parallel state-level programme was organised at Lok Seva Bhawan, bringing together officials from various allied departments. Anganwadi workers, along with district and state-level officials, participated in the programme through virtual mode.
Officials said the state will undertake extensive awareness campaigns over the next 15 days in line with Government of India guidelines, with the aim of turning holistic child development into a mass movement.
