A well-known journalist, Gitanjali Aiyar who was one of the first English news anchors on the national broadcaster Doordarshan, passed away on Wednesday.
She joined Doordarshan in 1971and had received the best news anchor award four times.
Apart from news anchoring, she also presented popular shows related to taking English song requests – A Date With You – on Friday nights on All India Radio.
After spending 30 years, she ventured into corporate communications, government liaison and marketing.
