In a shocking turn of events, Poonam Pandey, the actress known for her controversial stints, declared her own death on Instagram, triggering a wave of anger and dismay among netizens. However, in a video statement released on Saturday morning, Pandey clarified that the announcement was a part of an initiative to raise awareness about cervical cancer.
Despite her intentions, the ‘awareness stunt’ faced severe backlash from users on X.
Upon learning that Poonam Pandey is alive, social media was flooded with expressions of anger and disapproval. Many users condemned the actress, labeling her actions as “shameless” and calling for legal repercussions, including imprisonment. Some expressed their frustration, stating that the stunt had turned into a mockery of cervical cancer patients.
Critics questioned the appropriateness of joking about a serious health issue, with one user stating, “Poonam Pandey is Alive! She played the death prank to create awareness for ‘Cervical Cancer.’ Do you think one can joke around like that?”
Another X user commented, “I really think #poonampanday is one of the WORSE attention seekers of 2024. Faking ur own death for attention seeking, while millions of us had someone who died out of cancer in family. She is the embodiment of what we should NEVER do.”
Another X user commented, “#PoonamPandey is alive. This is the worst PR campaign, ever. Such a sick mentality. Playing with people’s emotions by faking death is not cool at all.”
