PM’s Award for Excellence: 22nd Good Governance Webinar Focuses on Replicating Success Stories from Aspirational Districts

New Delhi: The Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances (DARPG), in alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s directives, has successfully conducted its 22nd National Good Governance Webinar. These webinars, aimed at fostering the dissemination and replication of award-winning initiatives from the Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Public Administration, have been held monthly since April 2022, engaging officials across the country.

In the latest webinar, held on August 30, 2024, two initiatives under the theme of the Aspirational District Programme were showcased. These initiatives, shortlisted for the PM’s Award 2022, included:

  1. Initiatives from Chamba District, Himachal Pradesh, presented by Shri D. C. Rana, the then Deputy Commissioner of Chamba, and now Director of the Department of Environment, Science, Technology, and Climate Change, Himachal Pradesh.
  2. Initiatives from Baksa District, Assam, presented by Smt. Krishna Baruah, Deputy Commissioner of Baksa.

The session, chaired by Shri Puneet Yadav, Additional Secretary of DARPG, brought together officials from 417 locations across India, including Senior Officers from the Administrative Reforms Departments of various States and Union Territories, District Collectors, and officers from State and Central Administrative Training Institutes.

The webinars, which are attended by around 1,000 officials each month, serve as a platform for award winners to share their successful experiences and initiatives. This initiative aims to institutionalize and expand good governance practices across the nation, encouraging replication in different districts and states.

The Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration recognizes innovative and sustainable solutions in governance. The Prime Minister has emphasized the importance of greater dissemination of these initiatives through virtual platforms to inspire other districts and foster a culture of administrative excellence throughout India.

The DARPG’s National Good Governance Webinars have played a vital role in showcasing the success of such initiatives, providing insights into their sustainability and the potential for replication across different regions. These efforts are part of the government’s broader push to improve governance, service delivery, and administration throughout the country.
