PM Vishwakarma Scheme Beneficiaries to be Honoured as “Special Guests” at Republic Day Parade, 2024

New Delhi: In a heartwarming gesture, beneficiaries of the Prime Minister Vishwakarma Scheme have been extended a special invitation by the Ministry of Defence to attend the Republic Day Parade as “Special Guests” at Kartavya Path, New Delhi.

Launched on September 17, 2023, by the Prime Minister of India, the PM Vishwakarma Scheme is a comprehensive initiative designed to provide end-to-end support to artisans and craftspeople across 18 different trades. The scheme has garnered significant success, with a total of 2,85,420 applications successfully registered as of today.

A total of 256 beneficiaries, accompanied by their spouses, have been selected to attend the Republic Day event on January 26, 2024. These beneficiaries hail from both rural and urban areas, representing 20 states, including the North Eastern states, and four Union Territories. Notably, some beneficiaries are from Aspirational districts. The group comprises 108 female artisans and 148 male artisans, collectively showcasing the diverse trades covered under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme.

As a part of the Republic Day celebration, the Union Minister for MSME (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) will host a lunch in honor of the Vishwakarma beneficiaries. This gesture is a recognition of their contribution to the skilled trades and crafts that are integral to the scheme.

In addition to attending the Republic Day Parade, these special guests will also have the opportunity to explore the rich history of Delhi by visiting its iconic monuments. This initiative not only recognizes the skill and craftsmanship of the beneficiaries but also highlights the government’s commitment to uplifting and honoring the artisans who play a crucial role in preserving and promoting India’s diverse cultural heritage.
