PM Modi Unveils Development Projects Worth Rs 68,000 Crore in Sambalpur

Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated, dedicated to the nation, and laid the foundation stone for projects worth more than Rs 68,000 crore in Sambalpur, Odisha, focusing on boosting the energy sector involving natural gas, coal, and power generation. Additionally, significant projects in the road, railway, and higher education sectors were also initiated.

Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister highlighted the momentous occasion for Odisha’s development journey, with projects valued at approximately Rs 70,000 crores launched in education, railway, roads, electricity, and petroleum sectors. Emphasizing the broad impact, PM Modi stated that the benefits would reach all sections of society in Odisha, including the poor, laborers, working class, business owners, and farmers, creating thousands of new employment opportunities for the state’s youth.

Focusing on Odisha’s role as an education and skill development hub, PM Modi underscored continuous efforts by the Central government. He mentioned the transformation brought about by modern educational institutes like IISER Berhampur and Bhubaneshwar’s Institute of Chemical Technology. The establishment of IIM Sambalpur further strengthens the state’s role in education, particularly management.

PM Modi touched upon the central government’s support to Odisha in various sectors, including petroleum, petrochemicals, railway budget, rural roads, and National Highways. The inauguration of three National Highways projects is expected to enhance interstate connectivity between Odisha and Jharkhand.

Referring to the region’s potential in mining, power, and steel industries, PM Modi highlighted the creation of new connectivity and possibilities for new industries, leading to job creation. He mentioned the doubling of the Sambalpur-Talcher rail section and the inauguration of the new rail line from Jhar-Tarbha to Sonpur section.

PM Modi emphasized that the supercritical and ultra-supercritical thermal plants inaugurated will ensure adequate and affordable electricity for every family in Odisha.

Citing the positive impact of central government policies in the last decade, PM Modi mentioned a tenfold increase in Odisha’s income after the change in mining policy. He credited the District Mineral Foundation for addressing the issue of benefits not reaching areas where mining occurred, ensuring investments in the development of those areas.

In conclusion, PM Modi assured the people of Odisha that the Central Government would continue to work with the same dedicated spirit for the state’s development.

Governor of Odisha, Raghubar Das, Chief Minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik, Union Minister of Education, and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan, and Union Minister for Railways, Ashwini Vaishnaw, were among the dignitaries present on the occasion.
