PM Modi Lays Foundation Stone for Central Ayurveda Research Institute in Delhi, Aiming for “Ayurveda’s Next Big Leap”

New Delhi: In a historic step towards advancing healthcare and traditional medicine, Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually laid the foundation stone for the Central Ayurveda Research Institute (CARI) in Rohini. The Prime Minister hailed the initiative as “Ayurveda’s next big leap”, emphasizing its potential to enhance global recognition of India’s traditional medicine systems.

The event was attended by Prataprao Jadhav, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Ayush, and other dignitaries.

In his address, Prime Minister Modi highlighted the government’s commitment to making healthcare accessible to all, particularly the underprivileged, and to promoting traditional Indian medicine systems like AYUSH and Ayurveda.

“Over the past decade, the AYUSH system has expanded to more than 100 countries,” he remarked. The Prime Minister also underscored India’s collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), which is establishing its first institution related to traditional medicine in India.

Prime Minister Modi emphasized India’s potential to become the world’s health and wellness capital, envisioning a future where the world embraces the mantra of “Heal in India” alongside “Make in India”. He also highlighted the government’s introduction of a special AYUSH visa, which has already benefited hundreds of foreign nationals seeking AYUSH treatments in India.

The new facility, spanning 2.92 acres with an investment of ₹187 crore, will house a 100-bed research hospital to advance Ayurveda research and provide quality healthcare services.

Shri Prataprao Jadhav expressed gratitude for the Prime Minister’s leadership, stating that the institute will drive forward research and quality healthcare, significantly impacting millions across the country.

At the connected Bhoomi Pujan event in Rohini, Yogender Chandolia, Member of Parliament, North West Delhi, underscored the importance of the institute as a “gift” to the people of Delhi. He highlighted the dual significance of the day, with the laying of the foundation stone for the new institute and the inauguration of a new Metro line in the area.

Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, noted that acquiring a dedicated space in Rohini after 46 years marks a monumental achievement. “This futuristic building will set a benchmark for Ayurvedic research and enhance the accessibility of traditional medicine to society,” he said.

The Central Ayurveda Research Institute aligns with the government’s broader efforts to integrate traditional medicine with modern healthcare, creating a robust infrastructure for research and services. With state-of-the-art facilities and a commitment to innovation, the institute is poised to elevate India’s standing in global healthcare and wellness.
