Brunei: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new Chancery premises of the High Commission of India in Brunei today. During the ceremony, the Prime Minister lit a ceremonial lamp and unveiled a plaque to mark the occasion.

In addition to the formal proceedings, Prime Minister Modi interacted with members of the Indian community, acknowledging their significant role as a “living bridge” between India and Brunei. He praised their efforts in strengthening bilateral ties, noting the long-standing contributions of the Indian diaspora, which began in the 1920s with the discovery of oil. Today, around 14,000 Indians reside in Brunei, with Indian doctors and teachers playing a key role in the country’s healthcare and education sectors.
