Piyush Goyal Launches CII Ease of Doing Business Portal to Enhance India’s Business Environment

New Delhi: Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal today unveiled the CII Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) and Regulatory Affairs Portal, aimed at providing insights into India’s business environment and streamlining the process of receiving and addressing suggestions for improvement. The launch took place during the 2nd DPIIT-Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) National Conference on Ease of Doing Business in the capital.

The portal, equipped with a dedicated member dashboard, enables real-time tracking of submissions and progress, ensuring transparency and accountability. It offers updates on key Ease of Doing Business initiatives by the government and CII, with the goal of fostering a collaborative and efficient business landscape.

Addressing the gathering, Goyal emphasized the government’s commitment to cooperative federalism, underscoring its efforts to simplify life for businesses and citizens. He encouraged state governments and industries to adopt innovative approaches, highlighting the transformative impact of openness to new ideas.

The Minister reiterated the importance of the National Single Window System (NSWS), a guide for investors to identify and apply for necessary approvals. He urged the industry to actively engage with the system and provide feedback to refine its functionality.

On the Jan Vishwas 2.0 Bill, Goyal announced plans to decriminalize 300 more laws, signaling the government’s intent to create a more business-friendly regulatory environment. He called on CII to educate its members about respecting the spirit of the law, cautioning against exploiting legal loopholes for profit.

Highlighting the need for technological upgrades in state and central government portals, Goyal advocated for smarter, faster systems to enhance business processes. He also called for action against misinformation, urging stakeholders to identify problem areas and implement simple yet impactful changes at a pan-India level.

Goyal outlined his vision for accelerating India’s economic growth, urging stakeholders to work three times harder, faster, and smarter to position India as the third-largest global economy within three years. He emphasized the synergy between the government, industry bodies, and stakeholders as a transformative force in improving business and legal processes.

The Minister urged CII to develop a tangible, time-bound action plan, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing Indian businesses for economic progress. He expressed hope that the industry body would bridge the gap between stakeholders and the government to simplify regulations and foster growth.

Concluding his address, Goyal called for collective action from states, the Centre, local bodies, and industries to achieve transformational results. He highlighted the potential of feedback-driven collaboration to further improve India’s Ease of Doing Business rankings and drive economic progress.
