
Odia Paralympian Pramod Bhagat, who won a gold medal at the recently concluded Tokyo Paralympics, is all set to get cash reward of Rs 6 Crores from the Odisha government and a Group A level government job. On his arrival in the state, he will be handed over the cash prize by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
Pramod, who is currently the world number-1 ranked para-shuttler, won gold medal in the Men’s Singles Badminton SL-3 Category final by beating Great Britain’s Bethell Daniel in 21-14, 21-17 straight sets last week.
The Chief Minister, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and many celebrities from various fields had earlier congratulated the legendary badminton player for his gold medal win. On returning from Tokyo, Pramod is currently stationed at Delhi, where he has been attending various functions.
“The state government is proud of the achievements of the Olympians and Para-Olympians, and will continue to support them in future,” read the government press release.
