Parakram Diwas 2024: A Grand Celebration of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s Legacy Unfolds at Red Fort

New Delhi: As the nation gears up to commemorate Parakram Diwas 2024, an elaborate celebration is set to kick off, merging historical retrospection and vibrant cultural expressions at the iconic Red Fort in Delhi. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate the event on the evening of January 23, marking the occasion of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s birth anniversary, and the celebration will continue until January 31.

Organized by the Ministry of Culture in collaboration with key institutions like the Archaeological Survey of India, National School of Drama, Sahitya Akademi, and the National Archives of India, the program promises a diverse range of activities to explore the profound legacy of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and the Azad Hind Fauj.

The Red Fort, a pivotal site in Netaji’s saga, will witness a transformation through a projection mapping show, where artists from the National School of Drama will illuminate its walls with tales of bravery and sacrifice, creating a visually stunning blend of history and art. The event pays homage to key figures like Colonel Prem Sahgal, Colonel Gurbaksh Singh Dhillon, and Colonel Shahnawaz Khan, central to the Red Fort Trials that showcased the unwavering resolve of the Azad Hind Fauj.

Visitors will have the opportunity to engage in an immersive experience through exhibitions featuring rare photographs and documents chronicling Netaji’s remarkable journey. Painting and sculpture workshops will offer hands-on experiences, while modern technology takes the spotlight with an Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) exhibition, providing a unique and interactive perspective on historical events.

Parakram Diwas has been an annual celebration since 2021, commemorating Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. Previous editions included events at Victoria Memorial Hall, Kolkata, the unveiling of a hologram statue at India Gate in 2022, and the naming of the 21 largest unnamed islands in Andaman & Nicobar Islands after Param Vir Chakra awardees in 2023.

During the Parakram Diwas 2024 program, Prime Minister Modi will digitally launch ‘Bharat Parv,’ organized by the Ministry of Tourism. This nine-day event, from January 23 to 31, at Ram Leela Maidan and Madhav Das Park, will showcase the nation’s diversity through Republic Day Tableaux, cultural exhibits, and displays from 26 ministries and departments.
