Odisha’s Stalwarts honoured at World Odia Language Conference

Bhubaneswar: In a stirring tribute to the cultural richness and heritage of Odisha, the second day of the inaugural World Odia Language Conference at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar witnessed the Odisha government honouring distinguished luminaries who have brought laurels to the state on national and international platforms.

The day was dedicated to celebrating the profound contributions of these individuals across language, literature, art, culture, handicrafts, and history.

Commencing with a heartfelt homage to the late Padmashri Sadhu Meher, the versatile multilingual film actor, the event resonated with a deep appreciation for Architect Padma Vibhushan Sudarshan Sahu, Odisha and Bharatnatyam Dancer Padma Vibhushan Sonal Mansingh, Poet Padma Bhushan Sri Ramakanth Rath, and several other notable personalities.

The subsequent sessions continued the tradition of honouring luminaries, showcasing Odissi Dancer Padmashri Aruna Mohanty, Weaver Padmashri Govardhan Manyak, and Film Director Padmashri Shishir Purkuttam Mishra.

As the fourth session unfolded, the luminaries honoured included Novelist Yashodhara Mishra, Cinematographer, and Director Aprabha Kish.

This ceremonious tribute to Odisha’s stalwarts underscored the pivotal role these luminaries have played in weaving the intricate cultural fabric of the state, further establishing the World Odia Language Conference as a befitting platform for recognizing and celebrating Odisha’s cultural legacy.
