Odisha Yatri to showcase integrated mobility, safety solutions at UMI 2026

Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s technology-enabled mobility platform Odisha Yatri is set to showcase its expanding mobility network and citizen-focused digital services at the 19th Urban Mobility India (UMI) Conference & Expo 2026, which will be hosted in Bhubaneswar under the theme “Urban Accessibility & Liveability in the Digital Age.”

The event will bring together policymakers, urban transport experts, technology companies, service providers and practitioners to discuss emerging solutions for sustainable and inclusive urban mobility.

Odisha is the first state in eastern India to host the Urban Mobility India Conference & Expo, the flagship annual event of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA).

Safety services integrated with mobility

A key feature of Odisha Yatri’s showcase will be its recently introduced Safety Module, which brings mobility and citizen safety services together on a single state-owned digital platform.

Odisha has become the first state in India to offer integrated mobility and citizen safety services through such a platform, with the Safety Module linked with Odisha Police and the national emergency response system 112.

Available on both Android and iOS, the module offers 11 safety features, including Shake to Alert, an alarm facility, location sharing and emergency contact services.

Its One-Tap SOS feature allows users to connect directly with the national emergency helpline 112. The Safety Module has already been rolled out to around 1.86 lakh users.

10 lakh trips completed

Odisha Yatri has also recorded significant growth in its core mobility services, completing 10 lakh trips so far.

The platform has 6.34 lakh registered users and 18,600 enabled drivers across five cities.

Under its 100% pass-through model, the platform has generated around ₹15.5 crore in earnings for drivers, with no commission retained from their earnings.

The platform recorded its highest monthly performance in January 2026, when around 60,000 trips were generated from 3.28 lakh ride searches, indicating growing adoption of app-based mobility services.

Expanding beyond ride-hailing

Odisha Yatri is also expanding its services beyond conventional ride-hailing to build a wider mobility ecosystem.

The platform currently facilitates Ama Bus services across four cities and also offers boating services at Satapada in partnership with the Dolphin Boat Association.

The integration of mobility and safety services is aimed at making technology-driven public services more accessible and responsive, particularly when citizens require assistance during emergencies.

Features such as emergency alerts, location sharing and SOS support are designed to ensure that the platform can serve citizens beyond their routine transportation needs.

Odisha to showcase digital mobility solutions

Hosting UMI 2026 will provide Odisha an opportunity to present its emerging urban mobility solutions before national and international stakeholders.

Odisha Yatri’s participation will highlight how digital technology can be used to create safer, more accessible, inclusive and liveable urban environments, while bringing multiple citizen services onto a common platform.

The growth of Odisha Yatri is also part of the state’s broader effort to use technology to improve everyday public services and strengthen citizen-centric governance.

From facilitating daily mobility to providing integrated emergency safety features, the platform is evolving into a broader digital ecosystem designed around the changing needs of urban citizens.

The initiative is expected to contribute to the larger goals of Viksit Odisha and Viksit Bharat, with technology and innovation positioned as key drivers of inclusive, sustainable and people-centric urban development.
