Bhubaneswar: In a move to make public transport and tourism services more accessible, the Odisha government on Monday announced the expansion of its Odisha Yatri app with two new features—‘Ama Bus’ ticket booking and online ticketing for Chilika boating at Satapada.
The initiative, led by the Commerce and Transport Department, is expected to simplify travel for both citizens and tourists by offering a digital, cashless, and transparent booking process.
Through the app, passengers can now book seats on government-operated Ama Bus services without the need to visit physical counters. Tourists heading to Chilika can also select boating packages at Satapada, confirm dates, pay online, and receive QR-coded tickets, which are validated at the boating point before boats are assigned.
The upgraded app has already been released on Android devices, while the iOS version is awaiting approval and will be rolled out shortly. Officials said further updates will be introduced in the coming days to improve user experience.
Commenting on the launch, Principal Secretary of the Commerce and Transport Department, Usha Padhee, IAS, said the Odisha Yatri app is designed to empower citizens. “It is not just a digital service—it is about enabling people to travel and explore with confidence. By integrating Ama Bus and Chilika boating, we are making journeys more convenient, safe, and inclusive,” she noted.
With these additions, Odisha Yatri is positioning itself as a comprehensive mobility and tourism platform, supporting the state’s broader vision of building a connected and future-ready Odisha
