Odisha Unveils ‘ShaktiShree’ App and Internship Guidelines to Strengthen Higher Education Ecosystem

Bhubaneswar: Marking a push towards safer campuses and industry-aligned education, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday introduced the ShaktiShree mobile application along with a structured internship guideline framework for students in higher education institutions.

The announcements were made during a national-level workshop attended by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and State Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj, highlighting the government’s focus on student-centric reforms.

Designed with a focus on women’s safety, the ShaktiShree app integrates multiple support systems, including round-the-clock SOS alerts, confidential complaint mechanisms, access to mental health services, and direct connectivity with Internal Complaints Committees in institutions. The platform aims to create a responsive and secure environment for students, particularly female learners.

Complementing this, the newly released internship guidelines seek to connect classroom learning with practical experience. The framework encourages structured internships, community-based engagement and skill development initiatives, in line with the National Education Policy 2020, to enhance employability outcomes.

Speaking at the event, Suraj said the initiatives would help build confidence among students while equipping them with real-world exposure and skills required in competitive job markets. Officials noted that these measures represent a broader effort to make higher education in Odisha more inclusive, secure and aligned with evolving industry needs.
