Odisha ULBs Launch Online Application Process for PMAY(U)

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Urban Housing Mission (OUHM), under the Housing & Urban Development (H&UD) Department, has directed all Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) across the state to begin accepting applications for the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0 [PMAY(U) 2.0]. The new phase marks a significant shift, as applications will now be accepted exclusively online through a dedicated web portal developed by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Government of India.

To ensure an efficient and inclusive application process, the OUHM has instructed ULBs to set up helpdesks at their offices, organize ward-wise camps, and partner with Common Service Centers (CSCs) to assist applicants, particularly those from the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category.

The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has already initiated the process by organizing a camp in Gadakana, a site of special significance. Gadakana was visited by the Prime Minister on his 74th birthday (17th September 2024), where he interacted with PMAY(U) beneficiaries. Under the guidance of Dr. Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, Minister of H&UD, and the Principal Secretary, the village has been earmarked for development as a Model Village.

The inaugural camp, conducted in collaboration with OUHM, invited EWS households to submit their applications for PMAY(U) 2.0. Beneficiaries were advised to bring essential documents for immediate processing, ensuring quick and hassle-free submissions. The response was overwhelmingly positive, with 28 applications successfully submitted and uploaded onto the MoHUA portal during the event.

The proactive steps taken by the BMC serve as an example for other ULBs across Odisha. By ensuring adequate support for beneficiaries, the initiative aims to provide access to affordable housing under PMAY(U) 2.0 efficiently.

With the launch of online applications, PMAY(U) 2.0 aligns with the government’s vision of leveraging technology to enhance transparency and accessibility in public services. The program is expected to benefit thousands of families, offering them a pathway to secure housing and improved living conditions.
