Bhubaneswar: Odisha Tourism bagged the coveted “Best Stall in the Public Sector Category” at the Great Indian Travel Bazaar (GITB) 2025, held in Jaipur, marking a significant leap in the state’s positioning as an emerging powerhouse on the national and global tourism landscape.
The award, jointly presented by FICCI and the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, recognised Odisha’s creatively designed and immersive pavilion, which earned widespread praise for its engaging storytelling, high-tech features, and vibrant showcase of the state’s cultural and natural diversity.
The pavilion served as a dynamic hub during the second and third days of the event, facilitating over 170 impactful B2B and G2B meetings. Delegates and tour operators from countries such as Australia, Romania, and Serbia expressed keen interest in positioning Odisha as a prime destination for Free Independent Travellers (FITs), heritage tourism, and ecotourism circuits.
Led by Tourism Secretary Balwant Singh, Director of Tourism Mansi Nimbhal, and EY Director Lokesh Kumar, the Odisha delegation engaged with major travel companies including Yatra and Sita Travels, while briefing more than 35 foreign tour operators (FTOs) and destination management companies (DMCs) on the state’s tourism infrastructure, MICE potential, and policy incentives.
At a Secretary-level roundtable with DMCs, the Odisha team highlighted recent developments such as the single-window clearance system, robust road and air connectivity, and curated experience-driven itineraries. Selected DMCs and FTOs were invited to participate in the upcoming Odisha Travel Bazaar 2026, including FAM trips covering key heritage, coastal, and eco-tourism circuits.
One of the most popular attractions at the pavilion was the AR/VR experiential zone, where visitors could virtually explore iconic sites like Konark, Satkosia, and Bhitarkanika. Complementing this digital experience, guests also sampled authentic Odia delicacies like Arisa Pitha and Khaja, offering a full sensory glimpse into the state’s culture.
With enhanced international connectivity from Bhubaneswar to Dubai, Singapore, and Bangkok, Odisha is rapidly evolving into a globally accessible travel destination—appealing to leisure, spiritual, and business travellers alike.
