Bhubaneswar: The prestigious ‘India Skills 2024’ competition concluded with a grand ceremony at Yashobhumi, New Delhi, marking Odisha’s remarkable performance. The national-level event, held across nine centers in various locations, saw Odisha leading the medal tally with an impressive haul.

The ‘India Skills’ competition took place in four key locations—Bangalore, Manipal, Gandhinagar, and New Delhi. Odisha emerged as a frontrunner, with 52 out of 64 competitors from the state winning medals. This included 15 gold, 16 silver, and 9 bronze medals, along with 12 Medallions of Excellence.

Organized by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), the competition aimed to provide a platform for youth to showcase their talents in various traditional and modern sectors. The event spanned multiple states, including Karnataka, New Delhi, and Gujarat, and was designed to broaden the skill canvas for the participants.

The closing ceremony, filled with fervor and celebration, highlighted the dedication and hard work of the competitors. Youth from Odisha’s skilling institutes demonstrated their prowess and earned the highest number of medals, establishing themselves as ‘Skill Enthusiasts’ on the national stage.

The finalists of ‘India Skills 2024’ now have the opportunity to represent India at the ‘World Skills’ competitions, further showcasing their abilities on an international platform. Chairperson of the Odisha Skill Development Authority, Alka Misra, congratulated the winners and wished them continued success.

The three-day event, which began on Thursday, May 16, saw over 900 contestants from various skill institutions across India competing in six sectors: Construction & Building Technology, Creative Arts & Fashion, Information & Communication Technology, Manufacturing & Engineering Technology, Social & Personal Services, and Transportation & Logistics. Eminent jury members and World Skills experts evaluated the live performances, ensuring a rigorous assessment process.
