Odisha to Set up Child Friendly Police Station

Bhubaneswar: Odisha government has decided to set up 34 Child friendly police stations across the state.

The decision has been taken considering the need for a special environment within the police station for children who need to visit police stations for help for various reasons.

There are 34 police districts in the state and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has directed to set up one child-friendly police station in each police district.

All of these police stations will have special facilities for children. The police station will have beds, chairs, tables, toys for children, First Aid kits.

A small library will also be there with interesting books, magazines and newspapers. Special logos and plaques related to children’s rights and ‘do’s and don’ts’ for police personnel will also be set up.

The name and contact details of the Child Welfare Officer and other related information will also be displayed at the child-friendly police stations.

In August 2021, Sundargarh Police station was the first police station in the country to become child friendly in the country.
