Odisha to Launch ‘Shakti Corridor’ Connecting Major Shakti Peeths Across the State

Bhubaneswar: To promote religious tourism and celebrate Odisha’s spiritual heritage, the state government has announced the creation of a “Shakti Corridor” connecting all major Shakti Peeths. The announcement was made by Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida on Tuesday during her visit to the revered Maa Tara Tarini temple in Ganjam.

The corridor, envisioned as an integrated pilgrimage route, will link some of the most revered Shakti shrines in the state—including Maa Tara Tarini, Maa Biraja, Maa Ugratara, Maa Bhagabati, Maa Mangala, Maa Kalijai, and Maa Bhairavi. The project aims to provide a seamless, comfortable, and spiritually enriching journey for devotees and tourists alike.

Designed to be both spiritually significant and tourist-friendly, the corridor will be developed with modern amenities and enhanced infrastructure. Plans are underway to introduce helicopter services to improve connectivity and provide faster access to these sacred sites, especially for pilgrims traveling from other states.

“The Shakti Corridor is a tribute to Odisha’s timeless spiritual traditions and the devotion of countless pilgrims. It will bring together these powerful Shakti Peeths into one well-connected and well-facilitated route,” said Deputy CM Parida. She emphasized the corridor’s role in preserving the cultural and religious identity of the region, while also boosting tourism and regional development.

Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan, who accompanied the Deputy Chief Minister during the visit, confirmed that the project would be completed and operational within two years. “This initiative will benefit thousands of devotees and help unlock the spiritual tourism potential of Odisha,” he added.

The corridor forms a crucial part of the Odisha government’s broader strategy to enhance religious tourism, promote cultural heritage, and drive economic development in the state. With spiritual tourism emerging as a strong pillar of growth, the Shakti Corridor is expected to draw pilgrims and cultural enthusiasts from across India.
