Odisha to Celebrate 78th Independence Day with “Odia Asmita” Theme

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will hoist the national flag as the Chief Guest at the state-level celebration of the 78th Independence Day, set to take place on Mahatma Gandhi Marg in Bhubaneswar. The preparations for this significant event were reviewed today in a meeting chaired by Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary of the Information and Public Relations Department.

Independence Day, a matter of pride and emotion for every Indian, will be marked by a theme of “Odia Asmita” (Odisha’s Pride) this year, as directed by the Principal Secretary. The theme will be reflected in the multidimensional preparations undertaken by the I & PR Department for the state-level celebration.

Chief Minister Majhi will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest and will hoist the national flag. He will also felicitate various contingents and tableaux that participated and were declared winners in the state-level Republic Day celebrations earlier this year. Additionally, Ramdhun, a devotional song associated with Mahatma Gandhi, will be played throughout the city and in public places like parks and bus terminals to evoke a sense of patriotism among the people.

The meeting reviewed other preparatory measures, including the decoration of the venue, the display of pictures of Odisha’s freedom fighters along Mahatma Gandhi Marg, seating arrangements, information dissemination, and providing live feeds to the media.

In celebration of Independence Day, various official buildings of the central and state governments, government enterprises, and other major buildings will be illuminated.
