Odisha State Warehousing Corporation Donates Electric Vehicle to Capital Hospital for Enhanced Patient Mobility

Bhubaneswar:  To enhance healthcare accessibility and facilitate smoother movement within the expansive Capital Hospital campus, the Odisha State Warehousing Corporation (OSWC) handed over a 10-seater electric vehicle to the Capital Hospital today. The e-vehicle, valued at Rs.11.90 lakh, was generously provided by the OSWC from its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) fund.

The ceremonial handover took place in the hospital premises and saw the presence of Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, Minister of Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare, Cooperation, and Higher Education. Nayak presented the key of the electric vehicle to the Director of Capital Hospital during the event.

Capital Hospital, recently designated as a Post Graduate Institute, stands as a premier medical institution in the state, sprawling across 25 acres with 750 beds. With approximately 5500 patients seeking treatment daily, the addition of the electric vehicle is expected to significantly aid patients, Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), children, and senior citizens in navigating the hospital campus swiftly and comfortably.

The OSWC, primarily involved in providing warehousing and logistic support to the agricultural sector, manages 68 warehouses across 30 districts in Odisha. The corporation focuses on scientifically storing food grains for distribution under the Public Distribution System (PDS) and other government welfare schemes. As a profit-making Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) under the Cooperation Department, the OSWC allocates a portion of its net profit towards meaningful CSR initiatives.

The electric vehicle donation aligns with the OSWC’s commitment to serving society at large while also emphasizing environmental stewardship. The move was met with appreciation from key figures present at the event, including Smt. Manjushree Badhai (Chairperson), Dr. Ganeswar Jena (Managing Director), Smt. Ranjita Sahoo (Secretary), Smt. Smitanjali Swain (FA & CAO), Miss Supriya Swain (CGM), and N.K. Mishra (General Manager) of OSWC.

Representatives from Capital Hospital, including Dr. Laxmidhar Sahoo (Director), Dr. Dillip Kumar Panda (Superintendent), Dr. Dhananjaya Das (Deputy Superintendent), and other officers, expressed gratitude for the corporation’s efforts to enhance patient services and contribute to the broader community. The collaborative endeavor serves as a testament to the commitment of both organizations to the well-being of the people and the environment.
