Bhubaneswar: In a major relief for students, Odisha’s Higher Education Minister, Suryabanshi Suraj, has announced that students who enrolled in the first phase of the +3 admission process can now reapply during the ongoing second phase. This change in policy comes after numerous appeals from students and parents, providing them with another opportunity to secure seats in their desired colleges and courses.
The second phase of the +3 enrollment process, which began on August 12, will continue until August 26. Initially, the Higher Education Department’s guidelines specified that students already enrolled in the first phase could not participate in the second phase. These guidelines were made clear from the start, with details provided in the Common Prospectus 2024-25.
However, after the second round commenced, the department received multiple requests from students and parents seeking a chance to change their college or course choices. Acting on these concerns, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi directed the department to revise its decision. The guidelines have now been amended, allowing students who secured admissions in the first phase to apply again in the second phase.
Minister Suryabanshi Suraj emphasized the importance of this decision for the students’ future: “Education plays a critical role in shaping our students’ lives. Today’s decision ensures that more students can pursue their preferred courses, which is essential for building their bright futures.”
The change has sparked widespread relief and joy among students and parents. Many students have personally expressed their gratitude to the minister, acknowledging that this revision offers them the flexibility to seek better opportunities in their education journey.
