Odisha Reviews Clean Energy Schemes, Targets Faster Implementation

Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s clean energy transition received a significant push on Monday as Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment and Energy, Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, reviewed the progress of flagship renewable energy programmes—PM Surya Ghar and PM-KUSUM.

Highlighting the state’s commitment to a sustainable, self-reliant future, Singh Deo said Odisha was determined to blend innovation with inclusion, ensuring every household and farmer benefits from renewable solutions. Under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana, the state has so far received 1,28,336 applications, of which 1,27,820 have been approved for feasibility. A total solar capacity of 33.6 MW has already been installed.

Similarly, under the PM-KUSUM scheme, the Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC) has approved 50 MW capacity. The Deputy CM directed officials to expedite project execution, ensure swift grievance redressal—particularly for complaints received through the CM Grievance Cell—and conduct regular performance reviews of vendors. Poor-performing vendors, he said, could face deregistration.

The review meeting, attended by Principal Secretary (Energy) Vishal Dev, FA-cum-Special Secretary Debidutta Tripathy, Additional Secretary Saidutta Biplab Keshari Pradhan, and senior officials from OREDA, TP Central Odisha, and the Energy Department, focused on strategies to accelerate implementation and strengthen Odisha’s clean energy infrastructure.
