Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s COVID-19 tally has reached 49, with four fresh cases detected on Sunday, sparking renewed caution among health authorities. The rise in infections, though modest, has prompted officials to reiterate the need for public vigilance.
Public Health Director Dr. Nilakantha Mishra, while briefing the media, stated that the bulk of recent cases have emerged from Khurda district — particularly Bhubaneswar — and from Cuttack. “Of the 49 total cases, 15 have recovered so far. The remaining 34 are currently under treatment,” he said.
He added that a mix of hospitalisation and home isolation is being followed depending on the patients’ clinical condition. “Some are receiving care in hospitals, while others are recovering at home under medical supervision,” Dr. Mishra noted.
The Health Department has urged citizens not to lower their guard and to adhere to COVID-19 safety protocols, including mask-wearing, hand hygiene, and avoiding crowded places. Officials are also enhancing testing and monitoring efforts in areas with a higher concentration of active cases.
