Odisha Renames Raj Bhavan as ‘Lok Bhavan’, Marking a Shift Toward People-Centric Governance

Bhubaneswar: In a landmark move reflecting Odisha’s commitment to people-centric governance, the iconic Raj Bhavan has officially been renamed as ‘Lok Bhavan’. A formal notification announcing the change was issued on Monday, signifying a major shift in the state’s administrative identity.

The renaming was approved by Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati following a directive from the Ministry of Home Affairs. The Governor stated that the new name embodies the spirit of public connection and participatory governance envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He noted that ‘Lok Bhavan’ is not just a change in nomenclature but a reaffirmation of transparency, accessibility, and a deeper engagement between the administration and the people.

“This initiative aligns with the broader vision of empowering citizens, strengthening governance systems, and ensuring inclusive growth. Lok Bhavan will continue to serve as an important platform for public engagement and consultation, now with a renewed focus on openness and accessibility for all,” Governor Kambhampati said.
