Odisha Prepares 750 Shelters as Cyclone ‘Dana’ Nears, Aims for ‘Zero Casualty’

Bhubaneswar: With the severe cyclonic storm ‘Dana’ set to strike the Odisha coast, the state government has ramped up efforts to ensure ‘zero casualty’, preparing 750 shelters to accommodate evacuees from vulnerable areas.

Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari announced that 250 multipurpose cyclone shelters and 500 temporary shelters in schools and colleges are ready with food and medical services. Pregnant women, children, and the elderly are being prioritized for evacuation.

Meanwhile, police patrolling will be intensified to address concerns about potential thefts during the evacuation, and health centers are equipped with necessary medical supplies as the state braces for the cyclone’s impact.
