Odisha Powers Ahead: ₹1.15 Lakh Crore Investment in 24 Projects to Create 36,000 Jobs

Jajpur: Signaling a new era of industrial resurgence, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday laid the foundation stones and inaugurated 24 high-impact industrial projects in Kalinganagar, Jajpur. The projects, worth a staggering ₹1.15 lakh crore, are expected to create over 36,000 direct employment opportunities, significantly boosting the state’s industrial landscape.

The initiatives, spanning steel, renewable energy, chemicals, and food processing sectors, were launched at a grand public event attended by more than 20,000 people. The ceremony also saw the presence of key state leaders including Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain, Textiles, Handlooms & Handicrafts Minister Pradeep Bala Samanta, Jajpur MP Rabindra Narayan Behera, and senior industry executives.

Addressing the massive gathering, Chief Minister Majhi said, “We are not just laying foundation stones—we are building the foundation for a stronger, self-reliant Odisha. These projects reflect the government’s commitment to economic progress and employment generation. In just 113 days, we’ve moved from vision to execution.”

Among the major projects, Tata Steel’s ₹47,599 crore expansion of its 5 MTPA integrated steel plant in Kalinganagar is set to generate 4,625 jobs. Neelachal Ispat Nigam Limited is also expanding its capacity with a ₹61,769 crore investment, which will create 14,000 jobs—one of the largest industrial employment generators in the region.

Odisha’s appeal to global investors was evident with companies like Linde India Limited (₹425 crore), TYK Ceramics India Pvt Ltd from Japan (₹57 crore), and Germany-based Almamet India Pvt Ltd (₹50.6 crore) committing to new-age facilities in the state. These investments not only bring in foreign capital but also promise advanced technologies and higher manufacturing standards.

Highlighting the broader impact of the initiative, Industries Minister Swain said, “This is a defining moment for Odisha’s economic future. It’s not just about industrial output—it’s about providing sustainable livelihoods to thousands of families across the state.”

Textiles and Handlooms Minister Samanta added that the government is determined to achieve balanced growth. “While driving forward with industrial development, we are also ensuring that traditional sectors like textiles and handicrafts are not left behind,” he said.

The projects launched on Tuesday are a direct outcome of the investment pledges made during the Utkarsh Odisha – Make in Odisha Conclave 2025. The rapid grounding of these proposals, within just four months, underscores Odisha’s investor-friendly environment, streamlined policies, and infrastructure readiness.

With deep-draft ports, well-connected industrial corridors, and a proactive governance model, Odisha is fast becoming a top investment destination in eastern India. The state’s focused push toward inclusive, technology-driven, and sustainable industrial growth is now gaining momentum—with Kalinganagar at its heart.
