Odisha Police Steps Up Vigil Ahead of NEET-UG 2026

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Police has put in place extensive security and surveillance measures ahead of the NEET-UG 2026 examination scheduled for June 21, with authorities focusing on ensuring a fair, secure and incident-free conduct of the national-level entrance test across the state.

To review preparedness, Director General of Police (DGP) Y.B. Khurania convened a meeting with senior police officials at his camp office in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday and issued detailed directions to strengthen examination-related security arrangements.

With NEET-UG set to be conducted at 132 examination centres across Odisha, district Superintendents of Police have been instructed to establish a three-layer security framework and maintain strict vigilance before, during and after the examination.

The review covered multiple operational areas including deployment of security personnel, monitoring through CCTV systems, safeguarding of bank lockers where question papers are stored, traffic regulation near centres and emergency response preparedness.

In view of concerns over misinformation and examination-related malpractice, police have intensified monitoring of social media platforms and activated cyber surveillance units to track rumours and suspicious online activities. Officials were also directed to conduct advance inspections and verification of all security protocols to avoid last-minute lapses.

Special attention was given to the handling of examination materials. The DGP instructed officers to strictly follow established procedures for the collection and secure transportation of OMR sheets from examination centres to designated locations after completion of the test.

Emphasising accountability, Khurania made it clear that any negligence, irregularity or attempt to disrupt the examination process would be dealt with firmly. He called upon district police units to remain fully alert and ensure seamless coordination across all locations.

The meeting was attended by Crime Branch DG Binaytosh Mishra, Additional DGP (Law and Order) Sanjay Kumar and IG (Central Range) Dr. Satyajit Naik, while range IGPs, DIGs and district SPs joined virtually.
