Odisha Masters Concludes: Satish Kumar and Nozomi Okuhara Claim Singles Titles

Cuttack: The Odisha Masters 2023 concluded with thrilling victories, as Satish Kumar Karunakaran claimed the Men’s Singles title, and Nozomi Okuhara secured the Women’s Singles championship. The tournament’s standout performance came from the dynamic duo Tanisha Crasto and Dhruv Kapila, who triumphed in the Mixed Doubles category, showcasing remarkable resilience and skill at JN Indoor Stadium.

The highlight of the tournament was the stellar performance of the Indian pair Tanisha Crasto and Dhruv Kapila, who claimed the Mixed Doubles title. In a thrilling final against Singapore’s Hee Yong Kai Terry and Tan Wei Han Jessica, the Indian duo displayed remarkable resilience. After a closely contested first game, which Singapore won 21-17, Tanisha and Dhruv bounced back in the second, securing a 21-19 victory. The decider witnessed an intense battle, with the Indian pair ultimately prevailing with a score of 23-21, clinching the Mixed Doubles title.

In the Women’s Doubles final, the Indian duo of Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto faced tough competition from the Indonesian pair of Meilysa Trias Puspitasari and Rachel Allessya Rose. Despite putting up a strong fight, the Indian duo succumbed to a 21-14, 21-17 defeat in favor of Indonesia.

The Men’s Singles Final showcased an exhilarating clash between Satish Kumar Karunakaran and Ayush Shetty. In a nail-biting encounter, Satish Kumar emerged victorious with a scoreline of 21-18, 19-21, and 21-14, adding another title to his successful season.

The Men’s Doubles Final saw Lin Bing-Wei and Su Ching Heng of Chinese Taipei securing a hard-fought victory against Krishna Prasad Garaga and Sai Pratheek K with a score of 22-20, 18-21, and 21-17.

Notably, in the Women’s Single Final, former World No. 1 Nozomi Okuhara orchestrated a remarkable comeback, defeating Hong Kong China’s Lo Sin Yan Happy with a score of 21-7, 21-23, and 22-20 to claim the title.
