Bhubaneswar: Marking the completion of its first year in office, the Odisha government on Wednesday launched the Bikash Vahan Yatra, a statewide outreach campaign aimed at showcasing its achievements and connecting more closely with citizens. The initiative was ceremoniously flagged off by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at Mahatma Gandhi Marg in Bhubaneswar.
Describing the yatra as a symbol of inclusive governance and public engagement, Chief Minister Majhi emphasized the democratic essence of the initiative. “In a democracy, the real power lies with the people. The government’s foremost duty is to serve them. With a double-engine government in Odisha, development is moving at double speed,” he said.
The Bikash Vahan Yatra will cover all 314 blocks, 115 notified area councils, and 5 municipal corporations across the state. Specially designed vehicles will carry multimedia content, distribute the government’s first-year performance report ‘Pragati Pravah’, and share information on various welfare schemes through booklets and audiovisual material.
The Chief Minister highlighted key achievements across sectors including women’s empowerment, tribal welfare, youth development, agriculture, infrastructure, and industry. “From remote villages to urban centers, a wave of hope and progress has swept across Odisha in the past year,” he noted.
The Vahan Yatra initiative underlines the government’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and citizen participation, serving as a mobile information hub to bridge the gap between policy and people.
Minister for Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Rabi Narayan Naik called the event a “new chapter” in Odisha’s development journey, reinforcing the government’s vision to build a Viksit Odisha under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Majhi.
