Odisha Intensifies Fight Against TB with Launch of 100-Day Campaign 2.0

Bhubaneswar: Reinforcing its commitment to eliminate tuberculosis, the Government of Odisha on Tuesday rolled out the TB-Mukt Bharat Abhiyan 2.0 during the state-level observance of World Tuberculosis Day at Lok Seva Bhawan.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi formally inaugurated the 100-day campaign in the state, while Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda launched the initiative at the national level, with Odisha joining virtually.

Setting the tone for the campaign, Majhi emphasised that eliminating tuberculosis requires collective action beyond government efforts, calling upon citizens, institutions, and community groups to actively participate. He urged elected representatives, self-help groups, and educational institutions to take the lead in spreading awareness and removing stigma associated with the disease.

Highlighting the human aspect of the initiative, the Chief Minister handed over a food basket to Priyadarshini Behera, a TB survivor, symbolising the importance of nutrition and community support in recovery.

In his address, Nadda underscored that the campaign is backed by a focused, result-oriented strategy, aimed at accelerating India’s progress towards becoming tuberculosis-free.

The Chief Minister also outlined the state’s broader healthcare commitment, noting that ₹23,182 crore has been allocated for the health sector in 2026–27, with schemes such as the National Health Mission, Niramaya, and Nidan working to expand access to free diagnostics and treatment.

Mukesh Mahaling, Health Minister, said efforts would be intensified, particularly in rural and hard-to-reach areas, to strengthen detection and treatment services.
