Odisha HSC Results 2025: Government Schools Shine as 3,273 Institutions Record 100% Pass Rate

Bhubaneswar: In a major boost to public education in the state, the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha declared the 2025 High School Certificate (HSC) examination results on Friday, with a remarkable 3,273 schools achieving a 100% pass rate. The announcement has brought cheer across the education sector, especially with government schools leading the performance charts.

Releasing the results, School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond said that 1,802 government schools were among the top performers, alongside 1,154 aided and 317 unaided schools. “Government schools have shown exceptional improvement this year. No school in the state recorded a zero pass rate, which is commendable,” he stated.

This year, 5,02,417 students appeared for the matriculation exam, and 4,84,863 successfully cleared it, bringing the overall pass percentage to 94.93%. Of those who passed, 2,44,612 were girls, registering a 96% pass rate, while 2,40,291 boys passed with a 94% success rate.

Though the pass percentage is slightly lower than last year’s 96.27%, officials noted that the quality of outcomes remains strong. In 2024, 5,29,209 out of 5,39,152 students had cleared the exams. The number of students who failed this year has increased to 17,384, up from 9,701 last year, according to BSE data.

Minister Gond applauded the commitment of students, teachers, and school administrators. He credited the impressive results, particularly from government institutions, to focused academic efforts and increased access to learning resources. He also acknowledged the BSE for conducting a fair and transparent examination process.

The performance is being seen as a reflection of Odisha’s renewed focus on strengthening its government school system and improving outcomes across rural and urban regions alike. The education department has expressed intent to analyze the trends further and provide targeted support where needed.
